TO PRESERVE THROUGH EDUCATION

Our goals

PADS specific purpose  is to facilitate communication between scientists and others who are interested in primitive and aboriginal dogs and to promote the preservation and scientific investigation of primitive and aboriginal dog stock throughout the world. Many of these populations have already disappeared. Most of those remaining are sliding into extinction due to genetic swapping from modern domestic dogs and habitat destruction. The few that remain should be conserved. They may provide valuable genetic reserves and could serve as uniquely interesting resources  for scientific study concerning the origin and behavior of the earliest domestic dogs, adaptation, evolution and the migrations of early man. Efforts to develop individual breed registries and controlled captive genetic lines of these animals will be encouraged. An explanation appended below defines the terms aboriginal and primitive as used by PADS.

PADS will provide a clearing-house for information on these unique natural dogs. Owners and breeders can volunteer to participate in behavioral and other research projects, and may organize regional gatherings. Professional members can share their primitive/aboriginal dog and related canid research interest with a sympathetic audience, and solicit cooperative effort
